Under certain circumstances, for patients in his own lifetime, a tissue donation can be considered. This is for example the case while a planned hip replacement surgery: The removed femoral head ist not discarded, worn as usual, but made available for medical treatment – in other words: is donated.
Another way to donate tissue alive there is for expectant mothers. Part of the egg membrane, also called the amniotic sac that surrounds the fetus during its devolopment in the womb, can be qualified treated for medical treatments.
A living-tissue donation is easy for patients, anonymus, voluntary and unpaid. There are only a few questions about the health history of the patient to answer, and an additional blood test is necessary.
